After losing a wicket to the second ball Hayle’s innings got off to an explosive start thanks to skipper James Franklin. They had 94 on the board after eight overs with Franklin hitting 3 sixes and 5 fours in his 62 of just 27 balls. Simon Danby made 27 before Lee Bennet (30) and Andre Otto (33) set the imposing target of 198. Mark Smitheram removed John Hosking and accounted for Will Southcott at 16-2. Four batsmen got double figures but in the gathering gloom, the result was never in doubt.

Following the withdrawal of Penzance II the format was altered to a round robin format. As play wasn’t possible until 1.00pm the overs were reduced to 15 per match to complete the tournament on the day.
St Just II 103-8 (J Harvey 38, T Williams 20, S Rowe 20; A Faull 2-17, P Thomas 2-18, M Jenkin 2-20) beat Redruth II 99-7 (T Sobey 25, J Hale 23; S Harvey 2-17) by four runs.
Stithians 103-4 (C Martin 44no, M Strick 37; S Morris 2-24) beat St Just II 86 (S Morris 19, R Brownfield 18, M Harvey 16no; C Instance 2-4, B Tann 2-10, K Webber 2-11, A Rowe 2-27) by 17 runs.
