Perranporth retain the Division 2 T20 Cup

Perranporth retained the Raymond Reseigh Cup in spectacular fashion by beating Penzance seconds by 159 runs. They lost skipper Harry Watkins in the first over with eight on the board. A superb second wicket stand of 180 followed in just under 15 overs. Louis Rudin hit 3 sixes and 9 fours in his 79 made off 44 balls. Player of the Match Josh Anderson went on to complete his century (101) with 6 sixes and 9 fours off 53 balls. James Hall hit five boundaries in his unbeaten 33 off 15 balls.
Penzance were 21 for the loss of Charlie Goldsworthy after one over. From 46-2 off four overs, the innings subsided to 83 all out with Neill Furlonger and Hall sharing six wickets.
Across the day 955 runs in total were scored with two well-contested semi-finals. Perranporth’s Harry Watkins made 68 to post 167-5 in the morning game against Stithians who replied with 147-7. Nathan Strick (63no) and Gary Stephens (42) put on 70 for the sixth wicket.
In the afternoon game Glynn Furnival (53) and Ryan Edwards (54) put on 88 for the third Penzance wicket on their way to 162-6. In reply, Roche were 70-6 before Jacob Rowe hit 5 sixes in his 47 off 23 balls. With 17 coming off the 18th over Roche required 16 off two overs but they lost their last two wickets to be bowled out nine runs short of victory, with four balls remaining.
