2022
The team reached the 2022 O50s 2nd XI Final v Surrey at Trowbridge CC (Wiltshire) on Sept 2nd
The team that played in the final:
Brief History:
Our O50s 2nd XI launched in 2017.
We joined what was then known as the Southern Counties Championship (SCC) which featured 11 counties.
In their first season the team reached the semi-final.
O50s 2nd XI competition:
Since we joined in 2017 the competition has grown significantly in popularity with 5 new counties taking part in 2022 and a further 7 for 2023.
From 2022 the competition became known as the 50+ 2nd XI county championship.
For 2023 there will be 27 counties taking part with teams split into 5 groups of five or six teams who play each other home and away.
The top team in each group alongwith the next 11 teams ranked across all groups by results proceed to the Championship knock out competition starting at the round of 16 stage.
Teams finishing 17th through to 24th will contest the Plate Competition starting at the quarter final stage.
Rule tweaks for 2022 that remain in place for 2023:
Teams can continue to field two 49 year olds but they must have turned 49 on or before May 1st 2023
No player can play in O50s 1st XI and 2nd XI competitions in the same week (Mon to Sun)
Players who have played 60% or more matches in the regional groups for their ECB County 1st XI will be considered as 1st XI players and cannot be selected to play in their County 2nd XI team in any of the knockout stages. For calculation purposes: in an ECB group of 8 teams playing 7 matches 60% will be considered to be 4 matches.
