Players Briefing

  • Match Pace - We need to keep things moving a lot quicker than you are used to on a Saturday otherwise we won’t get finished so you need to know:
  • 45 seconds - If you’re next batter in that’s how long you’ve got from the wicket falling to you being ready to receive. Take any longer and you’re out! Get padded up early!
  • Batters ‘Chats’ - if you do need them make them brief - you need to be ready when the bowlers and umpires are - umpires can deduct 10 runs from a team if the batters chats are continually holding up play
  • Batters ‘crossed’ - doesn’t apply so if batter is caught and you’re next in you’re on strike
  • Last Batter In - if you are 10th out stay in with the last batter. If you’re run out so are they!
  • 50 and retire out - well batted but that’s your lot - there is no return
  • Bowling - 10 balls from one end. You can bowl 5 or 10 balls at a time. Successive 5’s from different ends is ok
  • Bowlers Changing Fields - please don’t change the field every time someone whacks you for 4 or we’ll be here until Tuesday - sort your basic field before the match starts not when you get on to bowl. You’ve had years to prepare!
  • Bowlers Max Deliveries - 15 in semi, 10 in Plate, 20 in Main Final (provided it is 100 balls) - no balls (normal rules) and wides (Test Match rules) are replayed and don’t count in your 5 or 10. Free hit after no ball or wide.
  • LBW’s - 1 per innings max in semi's and plate - 2 in final. As a bowler if you appeal for lbw and the umpire agrees your captain has 15 seconds to withdraw the appeal. Once you’ve had your max of lbws given you’re stuck with them so please don’t bother appealing as it will be tedious.
  • Drinks - if as batter or bowler you are about to expire through dehydration you can take a drink anytime as long as play isn’t held up. No ‘12th’ men dawdling on with drinks - sprinting on and off yes.
  • Sub Fielder - if you start a match 'on the bench' your captain can bring you on at the end of any 10 ball spell and you can bowl if needed.
