Geoff Husband Trophy

Geoff Husband started up Cornwall Seniors with an O50s team in 1984.

For more than 30 years Geoff was the chief organiser and driving force as Cornwall O50s were part of the expansion of Seniors County Cricket.

He also launched an O60s team which competed between 2009 and 2012

Geoff represented Cornwall Seniors 108 times - 88 for the 50s and 20 for the 60s.

His 88 matches for the O50s 1st XI is unlikely to be surpassed.

For the biennial away matches against the Isle of Wight and Channel Islands Geoff would organise a week away involving several matches as well as the championship fixture

Cornwall won few matches in those days but that did not dter Geoff's enthusiasm.

In 2015 the team reached the semi-final for the first time and it was fitting that the quarter final win over Hampshire at Grampound Road was on Geoff's 80th birthday. He thought we didn't know. He was clearly touched when both teams combined to sing happy birthday to him during the tea interval.

Geoff sadly slipped away in 2020 during lockdown.

In 2021 we launched the Geoff Husband Trophy to be presented annually to the Cornwall Seniors person who has contributed most during that year. The inaugural winner was Chris Dennis. As you will see from the photos below Geoff's widow Pauline has often presented the Trophy.
