Despite a delayed start due to wet weather, the teams took to the field in a round-robin format. The festival welcomed clubs who were either new to women’s softball cricket this year, or hoping to join the league in the near future, making it a valuable experience day for players of all levels. A touring team from Wiltshire also joined the line-up, adding to the fun and friendly competition.

The women’s section was formed earlier this year after Newquay CC approached the Cornwall Cricket Board with the idea of setting up a team. To help get things started, the club hosted the popular “Crisecco” sessions, cricket with a social twist, which attracted new players and grew in numbers every week.

After winning their respective regional group stages, Redruth, Werrington and Wadebridge took to the finals day stage at St Erme Cricket club, putting on a gripping, skillful and high energy display of cricket. The day went down to the last innings, where all 3 teams had a chance of claiming victory!

Cornwall Cricket Board, in partnership with Metro Bank, proudly hosted a CPD Networking Event last Sunday, 13th July, at Beacon Cricket Club. The event ran alongside the Cornwall Women’s double-header T20 Vitality Blast fixtures against Suffolk and celebrated the passion, progress, and potential of women and girls’ cricket in the region.

A new chapter in Bude Cricket Club’s history was written this weekend as the club hosted its first-ever Women’s Festival Day at the stunning Crooklets cricket ground. The five-team softball tournament marked a significant milestone for the club and for women’s cricket in Cornwall.

Formed earlier this year from a merger of last season’s Performance and Development leagues, the new single-tier competition has already proven to be a major success. The "one league fits all" format has allowed for greater exposure, new match-ups, and travel across the county, giving players the opportunity to test themselves against a broader pool of talent.
