Luckett CC Women Make Historic Softball Cricket Debut Against Saltash CC

Luckett Cricket Club proudly marked a historic milestone as their newly formed Women’s side made their first outing in a softball cricket fixture against local neighbours Saltash Cricket Club on August 15th.

The East Cornwall club has been working tirelessly this year to build interest and provide opportunities for women keen to take up cricket. Their efforts culminated in this inaugural match, made possible with the support of Saltash CC.

The fixture provided an excellent contest and a valuable introduction to formal league rules, giving both sides a platform to showcase their enthusiasm and potential. Demonstrating strong ambition and inspiring leadership, particularly from captain Paige Clements and others, Luckett CC now hopes to join the ever-growing list of clubs entering softball festivals and league cricket in the coming year.

On the pitch, Saltash set a competitive total of 296 from their 15 overs, with Luckett responding impressively with 278 runs from their allocation. While Saltash took the win, the day was ultimately a victory for women’s cricket in the region, with both teams gaining experience and momentum for the future.
