Cornwall Women’s Hardball League Heats Up at Mid-Season Mark
As the summer sun shines over Cornwall, the Women’s Hardball League is reaching boiling point at the halfway stage of an exciting season. Redruth currently leads the standings with 68 points, with Truro on their heels and holding a game in hand.
Formed earlier this year from a merger of last season’s Performance and Development leagues, the new single-tier competition has already proven to be a major success. The "one league fits all" format has allowed for greater exposure, new match-ups, and travel across the county, giving players the opportunity to test themselves against a broader pool of talent.
Standout Performances Light Up the League
From match-winning knocks to fiery bowling spells, Cornwall’s women cricketers have produced some dazzling displays. Here are just a few of the many standout moments so far:
- Emma Horrell (Werrington) smashed an unbeaten 50* against Grampound and followed it up with a sensational 52* Helston.
- Rebecca Rowe (Truro) impressed with a dominant 50* and a fiery 3-3 spell against Wadebridge.
- Tegan Smith (Redruth) has been unstoppable, scoring 51*, 52*, and 58* in multiple matches.
- Ruby Flowerdew (Truro) delivered a stunning 5-12 against Warrington and added 3-18 against South Petherwin.
- Charlie Ward, Maddie Webber, and Tegan Smith all notched up half-centuries in Redruth’s massive 215-run effort.
- Millie Matthews and Tilly Eldridge (Grampound Road) both scored unbeaten 50s in a dominant 185-3 total in a close game against Perranporth.
- Scarlett Mould (Perranporth) added flair with a commanding 56* against Helston
- Lizzie Johns (Helston) claimed a clinical 3-11 against Parrenporth
- Kayleigh Richards (Redruth) took 3-2 in a crushing win over Helston.
- Emma Barnes (south Petherwin) ran the bowling display against Redruth with a nifty 5-26.
- Gracie Parkin (Wadebridge) impressed with an unbeaten 41* at the top of the order against Helston.
- Amber Furneaux (Helston) stood out with a composed first ever 50* against Werrington.
- Freya Morse (Perranporth) delivered a brilliant spell, taking 3-4 against Helston.
