Crisecco Fever Hits Newquay Cricket Club!

Newquay Cricket Club is the latest team to be swept up in the growing Crisecco movement – a unique initiative that pairs the excitement of women’s cricket with the fun and fizz of prosecco.

Last week, ten enthusiastic women took to the field at Newquay CC for an evening of cricket skills, laughter, and camaraderie. The session culminated with a well-earned glass of prosecco on the club’s brand-new scenic balcony bar, overlooking the Cornish coast.

Crisecco, which began four years ago at St Austell Cricket Club, has since become a celebrated catalyst for the growth of women’s cricket across Cornwall. The initiative has led to the formation of regular softball and festival teams, not only in St Austell but now also in Hayle, Tideford, Falmouth, Bude, and beyond.

The club is already discussing friendly fixtures to cap off the summer season – a move that signals an exciting future for women's cricket in the area.
Nick Matthews, Cornwall Cricket Board, Women & Girls Lead: "We love the idea of Crisecco – it's unique to Cornwall and has brought so many women into the game we love. As we look to grow cricket in the county, we hope many more clubs will adopt this fantastic idea to strengthen their women’s sections."

Newquay CC welcomes all women – whether seasoned cricketers or absolute beginners – to join the Crisecco sessions, promising a relaxed, inclusive, and sociable environment.
