CCL Covid Temporary Rules 2021

CORNWALL CRICKET LEAGUE

TEMPORARY RULES, SEASON 2021

  1. Matchdays deleted through the suspension of cricket by the Government/ECB

The following shall apply only in the event that some matchdays are removed from the calendar, owing to Coronavirus issues and an ensuing ECB Directive:

(a) In a 12-team division, up to 8 matchdays may be removed from the season without any effect upon championships or promotion and relegation.  Therefore, provided that a minimum of 14 dates (64%) remain available for play, a full competitive season shall continue.  Fixtures removed for this reason shall not form part of any divisional table.   Normal cancellations (eg. weather) shall be regarded as ‘available days’, recorded as 6 points per team and shall count towards the required minimum of 14 matches.

Should fewer than 14 matchdays remain, promotion and relegation shall be suspended for the 2021 season.  However, provided that a minimum of 10 matchdays remain available, divisional trophies may still be awarded and county finals shall take place.

(b) In the Premier Division, the minimum number of available days shall be 12 (67%), ie. up to 6 matchdays may be removed without any effect upon the championship or relegation. Fixtures removed for this reason shall not form part of the divisional table.   Normal cancellations (eg. weather) shall be regarded as ‘available days’, recorded as 6 points per team and shall count towards the required minimum of 12 matches.

(c) In lower divisions of fewer than 12 teams, these shall follow the lead of the 12-team divisions,

ie. either all or none of Divisions 1-6 shall remain competitive, according to a decision based on part (a), above.

Note 1: Should any matchday(s) be removed for the reasons stated above, the whole programme of fixtures originally scheduled for that day will be completely deleted.  Therefore, any match which may have been rescheduled for another date, even if already played, shall also become void.

Note 2: In a division with an odd number of teams, the number of fixtures available to each team may not be equal.  Should this happen, final positions in the league table for that particular division would therefore be decided on an average points basis per game that actually started or was conceded.

2   Team failing to fulfil a fixture

(a) Should any club request, through Coronavirus-related issues, the cancellation or rescheduling of a fixture, each case shall be dealt with on an individual basis by the LMC, which shall seek appropriate documentation and act accordingly.

(b) If, through Coronavirus-related issues, an individual club is directed (by a higher authority) to cancel a fixture, both that team and their opponents shall, on completion of their League fixtures, be awarded for the cancelled fixture their season’s average points per completed match.  However, if, due to weather conditions, no other fixtures in that division take place on that date, the match shall only count 6 points to each team.

(c)  Notwithstanding the above, if any club is deemed to themselves be at fault for the cancellation of a fixture, their opponents shall be awarded a win by 20 points to nil.

3   Innings time limits

(a)  For Premier Division and Division 1 teams, whilst enforced hand-sanitisation remains in place, there shall be an automatic allowance of 10 extra minutes per innings.  However, any further time allowances are, as always, at the discretion of the appointed umpires.

(b)  In the Premier Division T20 Cup competition, whilst enforced hand-sanitisation remains in place, there shall be an automatic allowance of 5 extra minutes per innings.
