Division Three leaders South Petherwin became the third team to retain the Clive Rosevear Cup, following Saltash Town in 2017 and Callington Thirds in 2024. It was a close run thing, however, as they defeated Wadebridge Thirds (Division Four) by just six runs. Needing 145, James Cox (29) and Tom Wood (22) put on 46 for Wadebridge's first wicket before teenagers Jack Gill and Lucas Stewart (21) took the total to 121-2 off 17 overs. However, wickets fell as the pressure mounted, leaving 17 needed off two overs. Billy Martin’s penultimate over proved crucial, only conceding three runs and having Leigh Charles caught and Harry Tinker run out. With 13 needed off the last over, Jack Gill hit the first ball for four, but skipper Adrian Clements held his nerve to bowl Ben Hurst and only concede two singles. Gill was left stranded on 49 not out.
The South Petherwin innings had slipped to 77-5 before Andrew Brenton earned the player of the Final award for his unbeaten 43 that included 4 sixes off 32 balls.
In the morning semi-final, Harry Tinker removed both St Blazey openers and ended with 3-16. Joe Bailey made 24 in the 106 all out, which the Wadebridge top order knocked off with 27 balls to spare for the loss of three wickets.
The second semi-final saw Roche Seconds post 164-4 with Shaun Trudgeon making 42 before becoming one of Richard Watson’s 3-31. Adam Creasey steered South Petherwin home with an unbeaten 79, including four sixes. The six-wicket win came with nine balls to spare.
