Following successive match days with warm Spring sunshine, just three teams, Callington, Redruth and Truro, have won both opening games in the Bond Timber Cornwall Premier Division. At the other end of the table, Grampound Road, St Just and Werrington are yet to get off the mark.

Werrington will be disappointed having notched up the big score of 264-7 at Ladycross. They reached 186 before losing their third wicket, with John Moon making 50 and Adam Hodgson hitting an unbeaten 98. Six visiting bowlers shared the wickets.. The two Tobys, Whiteford and Stoddard, then shared an opening stand of 110. Callington made the long trip to the far west and came away relieved to get a nine-run victory at St Just in a game that could have gone either way. Liam Lindsay made 54 and Graham Wagg 32 for the visitors, but they lost their last seven wickets for 39 to be dismissed for 152 in the 48th over. Joe Clifton Griffiths picked up three wickets in the space of three runs to start the collapse. In reply, spinner Max Tryfonos, opening the bowling, took 5-25 and at 57-6 the game looked over. Sri Lankan Chami Edirisinghe on his return appearance, hit 52 before being seventh out at 117. The target was reduced to 16, but the home side lost their last three wickets for six runs, with skipper Gareth May last out for 38, stumped off Wagg, who clinched victory with 3-13.

At Truro, Alex Bone continued his good start for St Austell after the visitors slumped to 10-4. Bone made 91 with brother Mike, the next best with 17. Freddie Bose took 3-24. Returning to a former club opener, Antony Angove made 71 for the Road before being sixth out at 114. Josh Croom, Tommy Sturgess and Brad Wadlan picked up three wickets each. After Christian Purchase hit 41 off 30 balls, fellow opener Jack Paull anchored the reply with an unbeaten 68. Helston won on the road at Wadebridge after bowling out the home side for 154.
