2025 Cornwall Cricket League Tier 1 Preview

The seventh season of Bond Timber sponsorship of the Cornwall Cricket League.

With the weather set fair, the Bond Timber Cornwall League season is due to commence on Saturday (3rd May) with 147 teams competing in 15 divisions. In the Premier Division last year’s top two, Penzance and Callington, both embarked on close-season recruiting drives. Former player Brad Wadlan returns to Penzance to captain a team which has new recruits Charlie Sharland, Nicholas Halstead-Cleak and  Tom Hazell-Evans from the West of England Premier. Tommy Sturgess has rejoined from Wargrave, Berkshire. Charlie Hearn has moved from Helston with an overseas player still to be announced.

South African overseas player Liam Lindsay returns for Callington along with countryman Rowan Taplin, who has a British passport. Cornwall players Max Tryfonos (Bedminster) and Xavie Clarke (Ammanford) are set to play in the county, while Jack Greening has made the short trip from Holsworthy. With Graham Wagg continuing as the captain, they will expect to be challenging again. 

In contrast, Wadebridge have a similar squad with Australian Laclan Crump, a dual passport holder added. Slow bowler Andrew Libby returns to St Austell from Penzance with newcomer Sri Lankan Thevindu Dickwella the overseas. Another Sri Lankan, Dulash Udayanga, returns to Redruth and is joined by Australian dual passport holder, Justin Beaton. Lloyd Brock (Mt Hawke & Porthtowan) and Dylan Caddy (Barripper) also return to their former club.

It’s as you were at Werrington with Sri Lankan Thulina Dilshan, expected to make a return. Truro has  Indian Akhilesh Sahani as their new overseas player. Former Falmouth and Constantine player Scott Kellow and Redruth’s Luke Johnson also make the move to Boscawen Park. Sri Lankan Chamikara Edirisinghe hopes to return to St Just, and former player Justin Stephens has returned from Helston with his son Lewis.

Lewis Goldsworthy, who only played three games for Camborne last year due to his Somerset commitments, has signed for Helston along with Jack Lugg from Paul. Harry Saunders has joined as an Australian British Passport holder. An overseas player is yet to be confirmed. Newly promoted Grampound Road hope to welcome back Sri Lankan Ravindra Karunarathna, and former county all-rounder Antony Angove joins from Falmouth.

In County Division One, Dan Lello has returned to Hayle from Penzance, along with Steve Richards from Camborne. New Zealander Nate Wiggins is the new overseas player. Elsewhere, new Camborne captain Alfie MacDonald has Sri Lankan Dinuka  Dilshan at his disposal along with British Passport holder Australian Josh Fontana for a second season. Australian Toby Chillingworth returns to Newquay. The Constantine pair of Richard Kellow and Jake Preston have both moved to St Erme. Ben Coston (Truro) and Charlie Baker (Gerrans) have joined Falmouth. Perranporth, which is making its debut in the County Divisions, has newcomers New Zealander Thomas Bradburn and Jacob Stephens from Falmouth.
