Wadebridge are making the early running in the Premier T20 Kernow Crash as they were the only team to win both opening games. They overwhelmed visiting Werrington at Egloshayle by nine wickets in both games. The North Cornwall visitors were hampered it has to be said with six regulars missing. They managed 100 in the first game and 118 in the second but new home skipper James Turpin made short work of the tasks hitting 61no and 67no respectively. He took 4-15 in the first game and former County captain Matt Rowe picked up 5-18 in the second game on his Wadebridge debut.

Elsewhere in Pool B, it was one apiece at Truro who entertained St Austell. Newcomer Tom Wood took a hat trick as the Saints made 98 all out. Scott Harvey (42) and debutant Dan Davis (34no) led the way in the eight-wicket victory. St Austell got revenge, however, scoring 118-6 in the second game with Australian Jonty Leadbeater getting 40. Harvey got 58 in reply but with four needed off the last ball home skipper Neil Ivamy was run out going for the third to give the Saints victory by one run. In the cross pool games, Callington won by seven wickets at Camborne with Ollie Allsop making 63. Alfie MacDonald had hit an unbeaten 57 for the home side. He then made an unbeaten 36 in the second game to secure a seven-wicket win after Steve Richards made 50.

In Pool A St Just beat old rivals Penzance at Cape Road in a high scoring game. Christian Purchase, Tom Wells and Greg Smith all hit fifties to see the visitors to 182-5. Somerset’s Max Waller responded with 89 not out in the seven-wicket win.  Penzance were all out for 102 in the second game but despite a late rally from Josh Semmens (23no), the home side ended up six short. Hayle’s new skipper Tom Sharp made an unbeaten 61 to see his side to 117-7 at Redruth but newcomer Karl Leathley hit 49 in the eight-wicket win for the Reds. Kiwi Sam Mycock and Dan Lello got 40’s in the second game and with Max Jenkin taking 4-12  Hayle won by ten runs.

In County Division 1 Grampound Road got off to a winning start with a five-wicket home win over Falmouth, who had made 238 with Scott Kellow (80) and Adrian Noott (61) in the runs. Alex Ridd led the home reply with 77. Dan Jenkin made 124 to get Helston to 285-3 at Newquay. Gavin Tregenza took 4-24 to secure a 213 run victory. Spencer Wilcock and Ben James both made 50 as Beacon beat St Erme by three wickets at Tolcarne Road. Callington seconds got off to a winning start after promotion beating Lanhydrock by 112 runs at Moores Park. Richard Brown made 66, Charlie Coates 50 and evergreen Jim Shorten took 4-11. It was tougher for the other newcomers' Mullion who lost by five wickets at home to Paul for whom Damon Nicholls took 4-17. Depleted Werrington seconds were beaten by nine wickets at Ladycross by Redruth seconds with Connor Poulton making 108 not out as the 153 target was reached for one wicket in the 25^th over.

In Division 2 Ryan Brown made 137 not out in a losing cause for Callington thirds at Holsworthy. Jack Kent and Jared Connop both hit centuries in the St Neot v Roche Division 3 game. Kevin Jenkin hit 115 on his return for Hayle seconds.

The bowling feat of the day came at Grampound Road in Division 4 where Mike Eastwood bowled 8 overs, 8 maidens and took 6 wickets against Bude seconds. Tom Rickard (69no) and Joe Allen (50no)  staged a fine recovery for South Petherwin seconds with a 7^th wicket stand of 144 and victory against St Blazey followed by 42 runs. Also in Division  4 East Paul Menhinick (112no) and James Cox (118) put on 194 for Wadebridge’s first wicket against Saltash St Stephens.
