Falmouth Nighthawks won the Mining Division Evening League Final for the first time, comfortably defeating Mount Hawke & Porthtowan by 59 runs to claim the Michael Evans Trophy.
The final was brought forward by two days as several of the Falmouth team were attending the Manchester Test Match later in the week.
Despite weekend and morning rain, the Stutt Associates Oval was passed fit with the game played in evening sunshine.
Falmouth elected to bat and got off to a fine start with openers Stefan Churcher (33) and Trevelyan Ward (32) putting on 74 in eight overs before both were forced to retire not out.
Mark Averiss hit 2 sixes in his 24 and Paddy Varkar (14). Liam Hoban (13no) and Jacob Stephens (12) all got double figures.
Rob Askew took late wickets to end with 4-39.
The tone of the Mount Hawke & Porthtowan innings was set when James Hodges bowled a maiden opening over.
He had George Webb caught in his next over and went on to record figures of 4-1-6-1 to be named Player of the Match by the Umpires John Molden & Dave Higman.
With Jack Averiss dismissing openers Barney Scrace and Rob Atkinson, the reply was struggling at 23-3 off seven overs when Hodges was removed from the attack.
Zane Smit got 26, Rob Askew retired on 30, and skipper Rob Brandreth was caught by Hodges for 17.
The innings closed on 90-5 to leave the Nighthawks worthy winners by 59 runs, which was duly celebrated with a Nighthawks sponsors' Balti curry!
