Redruth Crowned Champions of the Women’s Indoor Hardball League

Cornwall Cricket Board (CCB) is delighted to congratulate Redruth on their triumph in the Women’s Indoor Hardball League, securing the championship title with an unbeaten run.

The final round of fixtures on February 19th saw Redruth claim crucial victories over Perranporth and Helston, before their final match was conceded, confirming their status as this year’s champions.

Redruth’s dominant performances were highlighted by strong batting displays, posting 75 and 82 runs in their matches against Helston and Perranporth, respectively. In their match against Helston, early wickets put Redruth under pressure, but Kayleigh’s match-winning knock of 24, featuring two sixes, rescued the innings. Helston’s Lizzie delivered a standout bowling performance, taking two wickets in two balls in her final over. Despite a late fightback from Chloe and Lizzie, Helston fell 20 runs short of victory. Kayleigh, named Player of the Match, also shone with the ball, taking 2-9 from 3 overs.

In their match against Perranporth, Redruth faced resistance from the leg-spin duo of Molly and Taylor, who built a solid 28-run partnership. However, Redruth’s depth in batting and bowling once again proved decisive, ensuring their flawless record in the tournament remained intact.
Elsewhere, Helston posted 63 against Perranporth, with Lizzie and Chloe both contributing scores in the 20s. Despite Helston reducing Perranporth to 5-3 early on, Molly Kerry (16) and Floss (10)** guided their team to victory with three overs to spare.

Redruth’s final match against Wadebridge on February 24th saw them put up an impressive 85 runs. Wadebridge struggled in their chase but found resilience in Bryher’s well-constructed 25 not out.

With the final matches conceded, Redruth were officially crowned champions, capping off a perfect run in the league.
The focus now shifts to the Women’s Cricket League, which kicks off on April 26th, as teams prepare for an exciting summer of cricket.
