In the race for the Bond Timber Premier title Penzance and Callington both gained comprehensive wins and the gap is 13 points with two games to play. As Callington won both the head-to-heads Penzance therefore need a maximum of 28 points at home to St Austell and at Redruth in their final games. Penzance beat Werrington by 113 runs after making 217 at St Clare. Jack Paull (56) and Ben Seabrook (66) put on 63 before the third wicket fell at 123. Jonny Ludlam got 40 to secure a fourth batting point before becoming one of five victims for Adam Hodgson. Six visiting batters got into double figures but no one reached  20 in the reply. Giles Lawrence returned to take 4-27.

A year ago Wadebridge clinched the title with a home victory over Callington but this time the visitors swept to a seven-wicket win with over 28 overs to spare. Wadebridge celebrated the opening in full of their new facilities but on the field were dismissed for 113 with Mohammed Danyaal destroying the top order with 5-34. Liam Lindsay’s 56 took Callington to the brink of victory. St Austell are up to third after a narrow five-run win at home to Redruth who have only won one of the last seven starts. On his return from the county side Connor Cooke made 54 and Mike and Alex Bone got forties in the 196-9. Dulash Udayanga made 76 for the Reds before being sixth out at 172 and the task for the tail proved too much as they were bowled out for 191 with Cooke taking 4-24. The last seven wickets fell for 34 runs.

At the bottom St Just gained a crucial win to leave Camborne  24 points adrift and realistically needing to win their final two games to have any hope of survival. Camborne were dismissed for 119 with Chami Edirisinghe taking 4-29 after Ellis May made three early strikes. In a tense reply Edirisinghe made 45 before being sixth out with five required. Helston gave their survival hopes a big boost defeating Truro at Beacon Parc by 26 runs. Their top eight all got double figures in the 200-8 led by Steve Jenkin with 61. Freddie Bose took 4-38. Truro were 95-5 after Charlie Kent was dismissed for 33 and ended on 174 all out with Brad Bury and Sunny Osmont sharing eight wickets.

Premier standings after 16 of 18 games: Penzance 239, Callington 226, St Austell 193, Wadebridge 183, Truro 180, Redruth 171, St Just 166, Werrington 166, Helston 161, Camborne 137

In County Division 1 the top two had convincing wins just a mile or so apart. Grampound Road lead Beacon by 14 points with three to play. An Alex Lean century saw them to 239-5 in a 45-over game at Camborne Seconds. The hosts were dismissed for 82. Meanwhile up the hill at Beacon the home side defeated Hayle by 79 runs after making 172 all out with Jordan Thomas scoring 62.

Mullion have it all to do as they now trail Roche by six points and have played a game more. They lost a vital home game against Newquay by 17 runs. Elsewhere St Erme beat Wadebridge Seconds by 141 runs.

On Monday Hayle won at Paul to close down on a third-placed finish and Penzance Seconds are still to record a win after losing at home to Camborne Seconds.
