Penzance retained the Bradleys Vinter Cup in a memorable final at Camborne
Their skipper Ben Seabrook was named Player of the Match for his 84 as Penzance hit the third-highest final score of 183 for 4.
In a valiant response, an understrength Camborne kept up with the required rate for much of their innings but late wickets proved crucial.
They ended on 168 for 7 to lose by 15 runs.
It was the highest score ever recorded by a losing team in the final beating Falmouth's 152 v St Just (173/7) in 2014.
Having been put in Penzance lost Christian Purchase (17) with the score at 40 in the fifth over. Dylan Blignaut joined Ben Seabrook and added 93 for the second wicket before Blignaut was dismissed for 52 by Will Eva. Fifty runs came off the last five overs with Seabrook falling to Alfie MacDonald for 84 in the final over.
Facing the big target of 184 Camborne lost Jordan Harvey to the eighth ball of the innings. Josh Fontana (27) and MacDonald (31) added 50 for the second wicket before both were dismissed by Dan Lello.
Liam Weeks (30) and Jordan Gatley (28) kept the momentum up and at 99-3 off 11 overs they were up with the required run rate and it was ‘game on’.
Weeks was dismissed by Tom Dinnis (3-22) in the 14th over and the game swung in Penzance’s favour as Dinnis and Josh Croom only conceded 15 runs in three overs.
It left 44 required off the last three overs and 25 off the last.
