After three rounds of the Bond Timber Cornwall Premier League only Penzance and St Austell remain unbeaten. Penzance chased down Callington’s 205 at St Clare and won by seven wickets with Chris Gibson making 118. St Austell also had a seven-wicket home win after dismissing St Just for 109. Mike Bone hit an unbeaten 56 to steer the Saints home. Camborne got off the mark with a 58-run home win over Werrington with Alfie MacDonald getting a half-century. Helston lost their first game with Matt Robins taking 5-28 at Beacon Parc. Wadebridge skipper James Turpin saw his side home with 58 not out. Pete Howells and Toby Whiteford got fifties for Redruth as they reached 212-8 at the Towans. Hayle replied with 131 with Paul Lello top scoring with 33. On Sunday Penzance completed a good weekend with a comfortable seven-wicket win at Bridgwater in the National Club Championship. Ben Seabrook made 89 not out. They will face Bath at home in the third round.
The County Division One leaders Paul had an eight-wicket home win over Roche with Matthew Skewes and Ben Brooks making fifties. Second-placed Mullion had a narrow 16-run home win over Grampound Road with Charlie Hearn taking four wickets. It was far more comfortable at Redruth on Monday with Simon Dalrymple (79) and Jamie Dalrymple (116) enabling 280-6 to be posted. Redruth seconds got 168 in reply with Hearn completing a great weekend with 5-25. Third-placed Falmouth had a weekend of two contrasting wins. They were 85-7 at Lanhydrock before Ben Meek made 56 to get them to 203 despite Ross Keast taking 5-57. The home side were shot out for 67. On Monday Penzance seconds looked on course for victory with Ryan Edwards making 75 in the visitor’s 197. In a tense finish, Falmouth’s last pair of Mark Burley and Callum Stephens put on 38 to win off the final ball of the match. Newquay made 257-7 at home to Penzance seconds on Saturday with Grant Stone hitting 70. Dan Lello got 86 in the reply of 198. Truro won by eight wickets at Redruth with Jaco Van Gruenen 54 not out and an unbeaten century from Jordan Thomas, followed up with 4-14, secured a 56-run win for Beacon at St Erme.
