This year’s Premier T20 Kernow Crash pool stages have come down to the equivalent of a ‘penalty shootout’, going into Saturday’s final round of matches. The first two weekends were washed out as was last Saturday’s Helston v Penzance fixures, due to a wet ground at Beacon Parc. The other four ties went ahead but Wadebridge were the only double winners beating Callington twice at Egloshayle Road. It means any four of the ten teams can still make finals day. The holders Wadebridge have eight points and Callington four points with everyone else on six points. It could well come down to the net-run rate, being the determining factor. James Turpin (63) and  Kevin  Renecke (47) helped Wadebridge to a 57-run win over Callington. The second game was similarly emphatic with Kelvin Snell (51) and Callum Wilson (48) in the runs. Redruth overseas player Sumiran Amonkar got runs in both innings (46 & 38no) for Redruth at Camborne. The Reds secured a nine-wicket win in the second game but an unbeaten 70 from Lewis Goldsworthy gained Camborne the spoils in the first. Ben Smeeth (55) hit a half-century as Werrington won at Hayle but Tom Sharp (46) responded for the home side to clinch the points in the second tie. Max Waller got runs (53 & 43) in both innings for St Just. at St Austell, Alex Bone’s 71 was enough for St Austell to bounce back with a win in the second clash.

 In County Division 1 Beacon’s Jordan Thomas carried on from where he left off last year to take 5-9 in the 33-run win at Newquay. Roche’s overseas player Jack Williams (70) and Oscar Green (5 for 5) were the key performances as the new boys won at home to Mullion. Penzance seconds also got off to a winning start following their promotion. Kiwi  Simon Keene made 69 not out and skipper Glyn Furnival took 5-35 in the 45-run win over Truro. Redruth seconds were shot out for 57 at home to Grampound Road who went on to win by seven wickets. Paul’s home game with Falmouth was cancelled due to a wet ground and St Erme’s game with Lanhydrock had been rescheduled earlier in the month.  Paul did play a rescheduled game with St Erme on Monday running out winners by 161 runs with new recruit Charlie Goldsworthy making 67.
