League Statement – April 2023 Matches
League Statement – April 2023 Matches
The League are well aware of the delays for groundskeepers this year following a cold and wet March. The CACG Hon Secretary Robert Jobson has taken soundings this week and as a result, to help clubs as much as possible, the following alterations to the rules take effect immediately.
Rule 11.2.1.4 now reads “From 1 March, and before 1 August, clubs in County Division 1 & Tier 2 may only mutually agree to reschedule a fixture after advising the LMC in writing, at least 14 days SEVEN DAYS before the date of the original fixture. LMC approval must be received in writing.”
This means all matches in County Division 1 and below can be rescheduled, if mutually agreed, providing the League is informed, SEVEN DAYS in advance of the original fixture date.
‘Mutually agreed’ is the key factor as was previously clarified in similar circumstances in April 2018 (Beast from the East Spring).
This applies to the three weekends of fixtures in April 2023 after which the rule will be reviewed.
The deadlines to inform the League in writing are therefore:
- For matches on Saturday 15 April – by 23:59 on Good Friday 7 April
- For matches on Saturday 22 April – by 23:59 on Friday 14 April
- For matches on Saturday 29 April – by 23:59 on Friday 21 April
Any match not notified as a reschedule by these dates, and subsequently not played, will be classed as a Cancellation with six points awarded to each team. This will also apply if the weather affects games on the day of the match.
i.e. No second chance to re-schedule.
The LMC will not get involved in any disputes between clubs. If there is no agreement the original default date stands
PREMIER DIVISION T20 FIXTURES - NO RESCHEDULING - FOR REASONS EXPLAINED HERE:
Rule 11.2.1.1. states “There shall be no rescheduling of any matches in the Premier Division.”
If that were to be waived the problem is that Cornwall CCC are playing NCCA T20 games on Sunday 23, Sunday 30 April, BH Monday 1 May and Sunday 7 May. Reschedule - to when?
The thinking behind this temporary rule change is that clubs will have a better idea of their grounds being fit around ten days before a game with the advantage of an up-to-date weather forecast at that time. The latest forecast for the next fortnight is somewhat more encouraging so, hopefully, things are on the up.
