HM Queen Elizabeth II Mourning Guidance

We await ECB  Guidance on the playing of this weekend's scheduled final round of BondTimber fixtures and will update as we get information.

Friday 16:00 Update

'Cornwall Cricket has copied the National Guidance below and we urge all clubs to follow the ECB's Guidance by observing a minute's silence before all games.

Cornwall Cricket has added a reading below that can be used by the Umpires or Club Officials to support them in making an announcement before the minute's silence.

This is a suggestion if people are lost for their own words.

We urge club players to play the game with ultimate respect, wear black armbands, and fly flags at half mast

ECB Statement on National Mourning Guidance

Cricket will resume on Saturday to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and honour her remarkable life and service.

Following the cancellation of Friday’s cricket fixtures as a mark of respect on announcement of her death, the England and Wales Cricket Board can confirm that play will resume from Saturday including international, domestic, and recreational fixtures. The decision has been taken after consultation with DCMS and in line with Official National Mourning guidance.

This means the Men’s Test match between England and South Africa will begin at The Oval and the Women’s IT20 match between England and India will also go ahead at the Riverside in Durham. The scheduled match between England and Sri Lanka Men’s U19 along with recreational cricket fixtures will also take place as planned.

As a mark of respect to The Queen, your club may want to observe a minute’s silence before your games, players, coaches and volunteers may wear black armbands, and if you have the facilities, your club could play the national anthem.

Suggested Statement

We gather here today to play the game we love as a mark of respect for the life and service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second – whose devotion to duty, respect for others, and stoic leadership served as an example to us all, and whose loss is mourned not only by her family – to whom we send our condolences – but by every one of us, here in Cornwall, more widely across the United Kingdom, and around the world.  Please bow your heads and join me in a minute’s silence to remember the significance of a life devoted to service.

[ONE MINUTE’S SILENCE].

God save the King.'
