The weather played a major part in Saturday’s League programme with only around a dozen of the 68 games being completed as heavy rain showers swept up the county around teatime. All the Premier League and County Division One matches were abandoned with none reaching the 20 overs second innings threshold for a Duckworth Lewis result. The nearest came at Werrington where Hayle were in good form again reaching 231-6 with Sam Mycock making 88 and Dan Lello 69. The Werrington reply was revised to 154 from 25 overs and they had reached 40-0 off six overs when play was abandoned. The leaders Penzance were 26-1 in the seventh over when play was called off at St Clare in response to St Just’s 216-8 in a 47-over game. Neil Curnow opening the innings made 74 adding 52 for the first wicket with Ben Stevens (27). All the top eight got into double figures for the visitors. Ali Usman took 3-33. At Redruth in the local derby, Camborne were dismissed for 163 in the final over with Simon Hosking (43) getting late runs after Martin Jenkin made 43 early on. Ellis Whiteford took 4-24 but there was no further play. At St Austell, Wadebridge batted well to get to 231-3 in the 47^th over with Matt Robins making 82 and Sam Richards 71. In the bottom of the table clash at Callington Truro’s Joel Brierley (5-52) reduced the home side to 51-5 before Nick Parker (50) got the total to 155. Truro were 11-0 when the rains came.

In County Division 1 the nearest to a result came at Lanhydrock where the home side made 212 with Ryan Butler getting 69. After a number of interruptions, the Grampound Road target was reduced to 136 in 23 overs but it got too wet at 70-5 in the ninth. There was a remarkable game at St Erme where the home side amassed 304-1 declared in just 33 overs against Redruth seconds. Kyle Van Rooyen hit 5 sixes in his 94 before being dismissed at 135. Jack Evans and Spencer Wilcock then both hit 100 not out. The innings saw 9 sixes and 41 fours in total. After the Redruth innings commenced there was a 90-minute delay which set a revised target of 176 in 20 overs. More heavy downpours around 6 pm saw the game called off at 37-3 in the ninth over. Leaders Beacon bowled Newquay out for 203 with Grant Stone making 65. Ahead of his county recall Beacon skipper Jordan Thomas took three wickets. Werrington seconds were dismissed for 144 at Falmouth and the home team were 40-2 in the twelfth over. It was similar at Paul where Callington seconds made 122 and Paul were 46-2 off 14 overs. In a rescheduled game Paul travelled to Werrington on Sunday and made 170 before Dylan York (5-45) helped dismiss the bottom club for 125. The Helston v Mullion game was rescheduled during the winter due to a wedding being held at Beacon Parc. It is being played on 10 July.

 In Division 4 West on Saturday St Just's Damon Fillery took two hat tricks in his 6-7 against Truro thirds.

The Clive Rosevear Insurance Hawkey Cup Final on 29 June will be between St Austell and Werrington. St Austell beat holders Wadebridge by 21 runs. Werrington required 11 off the final over to beat Callington and got there with a wide, three boundaries and two wickets falling in a dramatic conclusion. 

In the Royal London Cup third round on Sunday a remarkable game at Penzance saw the home team reduced to 8-5 off three overs and 19-7 off ten overs against Bridgwater. However, Giles Lawrence (38no), Glyn Furnival and Charlie Goldsworthy crucially prolonged the innings to 79-9 in the 27th over when rain forced an abandonment. The tie will be replayed at Penzance next Sunday 26 June.

Meanwhile, Grampound Road are through to the last 16 of the Volneus Village Cup. They beat Corse & Staunton (Gloucestershire) by 21 runs in a reduced 32-over game to qualify for a home tie against reigning champions Calmore Sports Club (Hampshire). Harry Gregory made 45 in the ‘Road’s 164-8 before Nathan Keevil took 4-38 as the visitors were dismissed with ten balls remaining.
