The weather had a serious effect for the first time this season with a third of the Bond Timber League programme cancelled following heavy overnight and morning rain.  However, the Premier League and County Division 1 were both able to complete in full, albeit with some delayed starts. In the Premier League play got underway on time at Penzance but Werrington were soon in trouble and bowled out for 79. Penzance recorded a fourth successive win with a victory by nine wickets in a game that only lasted less than 42 overs. Ali Usman took 4-13. St Austell suffered a first defeat as they were beaten by Hayle at the Towans by five wickets after making 144-9. Alex Bone made 49 and brother Gary 45. Matt Lello took 4-26 for the home side before making 33 not out. After getting underway on time the weather closed in at St Just causing an abandonment at tea. Callington made 212-9 in their fifty overs with Aidan Libby getting 80 and Rumesh Buddhika 31. Gareth May and Max Waller shared six wickets. The other two games had delayed starts of 30 minutes and were reduced to 45 over matches. Redruth made 173-3 at Wadebridge with Rohan Wight (63no) and Peter Howells (43no) putting on an unbroken 109 for the fourth wicket. It proved enough as Wadebridge slipped from 101-3 to 159 all out with ten balls remaining. Kevin Renecke (42) and Matt Jolliffe (34) added 60 for the fourth wicket before Ellis Whiteford took 3-39. Camborne were bowled out for 199 in their 45 overs at Truro with Liam Weeks (42) and Martin Jenkin (36) adding an important 48 for the seventh wicket after the visitors were 116-6. Neil Ivamy took 3-11 from nine overs. Truro’s reply saw Gareth Mankee strike twice before a run was scored. Joe Phillips and Murray Wyatt got double figures before Ryan Downing took over to take 7-24 from nine overs. Ivamy completed a fine game to end unbeaten on 34 and gain a batting point at 101 all out in the 23rd over.

In County Division 1 Beacon won the top of the table clash at Grampound Road in a 40 overs clash. Chris Roberts made 29 for the ‘Road’ but 62-1 became 117 all out with Jordan Thomas and Daren Proctor both taking 3-20. Thomas steered his side home with 46 not out after three late wickets fell in reaching 118-6 with five overs to spare. Helston remains in third after winning a 25 over game at Werrington by 47 runs. Billy Taylor (45) and Luke Maugeri (40) put on 90 for the second wicket as Helston got to 174-5. The only full game played in the division came at Mullion where 521 runs were scored. St Erme made 260-4 with Cas James getting 63. Mullion were 109-4 before Lachlan Mark (44) and Matthew Davies (64) turned the game with a stand of 90 for the fifth wicket. St Erme fought back with Duncan Paterson taking three wickets but Charlie Hearn and Jonty Wheatley combined to add 31 for the ninth wicket and victory with eight balls to spare. Falmouth eased to an eight wicket win at home to Lanhydrock with Scott Kellow making 51 after Callum Stephens took 4-13. Newquay won by nine wickets at Callington seconds. Alex Robinson hit 67 for the home side before Grant Stone (73no) and Adam Cocking (44no) put on an unbroken 88. The Redruth seconds versus Paul game was cancelled.

In the Royal London Cup Bridgwater beat Sandford in their replay to qualify for a third round trip to Penzance on 19 June. On the same day, Grampound Road will take on Gloucestershire side Corse & Staunton in Round 5 of the Volneus Village Cup, after Sunday’s concession by Gulval.
