Champions Penzance finished off the Bond Timber Cornwall Premier League season with their fifteenth win at Camborne on Saturday, to win the title by 74 points. Unbeaten seasons are not rare in the 20-year history of the Premier League. Truro did it in the inaugural season of 2001 and 2002. St Just followed in 2005 with a record winning margin of 83 points. They repeated it in the wet season of 2008 when a third of their matches were cancelled. The last unbeaten season was in 2102 when Werrington won their first title. Camborne’s batting disappointed at Roskear as they were dismissed for 67 in the 35th over with Giles Lawrence and Greg Smith bagging three wickets. In reply, Antony Angove hit 3 sixes in his unbeaten 42 off 23 balls and with Tom Wells 25 not out the nine-wicket win came in only the seventh over. Truro ended as runners up but lost to St Austell, who rose to fifth as a result. Kyle Van Rooyen made 49 in Truro’s 170. In the reply, Alex Bone scored 54 but it was James Carter’s unbeaten 37 that saw St Austell home by two wickets, with 15 balls to spare. St Just won the battle for third place when they defeated Redruth at Cape Cornwall by 87 runs. The ‘tried and trusted’ did the business for the Saints with Gareth May (34), Neil Curnow (44) and Gavin Edwards (56no) leading the way. Craig Williams top-scored with 42 not out in Redruth’s 120 all out. Wadebridge made sure of the seventh spot with a comprehensive eight-wicket win at already doomed Grampound Road. The hosts were 37-7 at one point before opener Virendra Yadav got 33 to boost the total to 91 all out. Callum Wilson took 5-26.  Sam Richards then made 39 not out to win the game in the 20th over. Werrington beat Callington at Moores Park to finish above them in eighth. Ollie Allsop top-scored with 39 in the 142 all out. A steady 40 not out from the experienced Ben Smeeth saw Werrington to their sixth victory, by four wickets with three overs to spare. There was cheer for the Callington club however as both the second and third teams clinched respective titles on the final day.

In County Division One Hayle started the day requiring a maximum of 15 points against Newquay to take the title from Helston. That looked in danger when the hosts slipped to 109-6 but Marc Sweeney (48) and James Franklin (42) added 63 for the seventh wicket and they eventually got to 219 all out. It proved to be more than enough as Newquay collapsed to 30 all out in less than 13 overs. Tom Sharp took 6-13, to add to his 6-21 the previous week, before making the trophy lift. Helston did all they could, making the big total of 333-5 at home to St Austell seconds. Dan Jenkin made 151 and Ross Leathley 78, adding 161 for the third wicket. St Austell were bowled out for 87 in 33 overs. Beacon finished third, 27 points off the pace, with a 101 run victory at Redruth seconds. The prolific Ben James made 95 and Jordan Thomas 116. Ben Brooks hit 55 and Matt Skewes a very useful late 46 to help Paul to a 25 run win over Falmouth, in the battle to finish fourth. Promoted St Erme will be pleased to finish sixth after a tenth win of the season. Emily Edgcombe took four wickets and the in-form Jack Evans made 46 in the five-wicket win at Werrington seconds. Finally a disappointing end for Gorran who conceded to Lanhydrock. Gorran’s third concession of the season.
