Girls Complete Under-11s Cricket Activation Projects Across Cornwall
Four teams of girls from Roche, St Austell, Falmouth and St Erme have successfully completed their Under-11s Girls Cricket Activation Projects, marking an important milestone in the continued growth of the women’s and girls’ game in Cornwall.
Across the four programmes, a total of 72 girls signed up and took part, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for cricket among young girls and providing an encouraging platform for the future of the sport.
Each activation project delivered eight hours of activity, introducing participants to cricket through a fun, engaging and supportive environment. Sessions included a welcome to cricket, core skill development, teamwork exercises and match-play scenarios, helping the girls to understand the basic principles of the game while building confidence and enjoyment.
To celebrate the completion of the programmes, each participant received their very own bat and ball, kindly provided through Dynamos Cricket, ensuring the girls are equipped to continue their cricketing journey beyond the sessions.
The next step for the players will see them showcase their newly developed skills at two indoor festivals after Christmas. The festivals will give each club the opportunity to play mini matches against one another, allowing the girls to experience what match play feels like and further develop their understanding of game situations.
These programmes represent exciting times for the next generation of female cricketers in Cornwall, as work continues towards the shared ambition of “Inspiring a generation of female cricketers in Cornwall.”
