The Cornwall Women’s Indoor Hardball League is underway, with six clubs competing this season.
Werrington, Wadebridge, Perranporth, Helston, Truro, and Redruth have all entered sides into the competition. The league provides valuable opportunities for teams to play competitive cricket throughout the winter as well as during the summer season.
Match 1 – Truro vs Redruth
Last year’s top two teams met in the opening fixture. Truro won the toss and bowled first. Redruth posted 50–3 from their 10 overs, thanks to tight bowling from the Truro attack. Kayleigh top-scored with 18*; Georgie and Lisa each claimed wickets for Truro.
Truro chased the target in 8.1 overs, finishing 53–4, with Lorraine (16) and Izzy (18) guiding their side home.

Redruth stayed in the chase through Polly (20) and Kayleigh (25), but Werrington held their nerve, restricting them to 73 to win by 7 runs. Grace (15 from 3 overs) and Zoe (6 from 2 overs) delivered crucial tight spells.
Match 3 – Werrington vs Truro
Another exciting game saw Werrington overcome Truro. Truro started strongly, reducing Werrington to 2–2. Seph and Zoe steadied the innings with double-figure scores, but it was Grace who stole the show with a powerful 40, including three sixes and a four, taking Werrington to 80.
Truro’s reply faltered with regular wickets falling. Georgie fought hard with 20*, but Truro were bowled out for 63.
Match 4 – Wadebridge vs Helston
Wadebridge claimed their first win of the campaign with a 24-run victory over Helston. Consistent batting from Jasmine, Grace, and Izzy saw them reach 69–3. Helston’s bowlers kept things tight, with Amber conceding just 13 from 3 overs and Jeeva taking her first hardball wicket.
In reply, Sue made a promising 14, but Wadebridge’s bowlers proved too strong, restricting Helston to 46.
Match 5 – Perranporth vs Werrington
Perranporth (The Waves) took on Werrington. Werrington made 60 in their allotted overs, with Freya and Hayley reaching double figures. Perranporth’s bowlers worked efficiently as a unit to keep the run rate down.
In reply, Perranporth chased the target comfortably with 2 wickets down. Kelly retired on 25, and Erin added 19 as The Waves won with four overs to spare. Freya took Werrington's only wicket along with 1 runout.
Match 6 – Perranporth vs Helston
Perranporth secured back-to-back wins, posting 99–4 with every batter reaching double figures. Taylor finished on 20*. Lymarr was the pick of the Helston bowlers with 2–23.
Helston stayed in contention through Hannah’s excellent 30, but Perranporth ultimately won by 27 runs, restricting Helston to 72. Taylor again impressed with 1–15 from 3 overs of sharp leg-spin.
Match 7 – Werrington vs Helston
Polly took 3 wickets for Werrington as they reduced Helston to 12–4. A late partnership from Sue and Hannah pushed the total to 27, but Werrington comfortably chased it down in 6 overs, with Grace finishing on 14*.
Match 8 – Perranporth vs Truro
The match of the tournament so far saw the ever-improving Perranporth face summer league champions Truro.
Batting first, Perranporth made an energetic start through Erin and Trudy (27 from the first 3 overs). Strong partnerships throughout the innings saw Erin, Trudy, Rosie, and Taylor all reach double figures. Truro struck back with key wickets in the middle overs, but Penny and Taylor added a valuable 15-run last-wicket stand. Georgie, Hannah, and Tamsyn claimed the wickets, with Hannah conceding just 7 from her 2 overs.
Truro’s chase began strongly, reaching 36 from 4 overs through Hannah and Georgie. However, Trudy changed the momentum by dismissing both Hannah and Izzy in her first over.
Truro needed 9 from the final two overs. Erin bowled a economical over, giving away only 3, leaving Taylor 6 to defend. Under immense pressure, she delivered five excellent balls before the final delivery was struck for four, securing a dramatic 1-run victory for Perranporth. A superb contest between two outstanding sides.
