Crowdfunder campaign to make cricket more accessible for people with disabilities appeals for supporters to help them reach their goal.

Cornwall Cricket Board is appealing for support as it enters the final stages of its Crowdfunder campaign to make cricket fully accessible for people with disabilities. Launched in October, the campaign aims to build on the success of Cornwall’s first Disability Cricket Team and is still £8,000 short of its target ahead of its November deadline.

The initiative seeks to remove financial and practical barriers so that people with disabilities across Cornwall can enjoy competitive cricket with the right equipment, support and opportunities. Cornwall Cricket Board offers cricket to adults and children aged five and above, from grassroots sessions to county-level teams, and is committed to ensuring the sport is open to everyone.

A major milestone for the Board has been the creation of Cornwall’s first Disability Cricket Team. Now in only its second season, the team has already become South West League Champions and earned recognition through the BBC Radio Cornwall Make a Difference Awards. Their rapid success highlights the growing potential for disability cricket in the county.

For many players, a simple introduction to the sport has grown into the chance to represent Cornwall with pride. To keep this progress moving, players need access to essential kit, specialist equipment, suitable venues and travel support, regardless of income or background.

Funds raised through the Crowdfunder will cover key costs including playing kit, bats, pads and gloves; tailored protective gear; travel to fixtures across the South West; and venue hire for training and home matches. Removing these financial barriers will ensure every player can fully participate and continue developing their cricketing journey.

By supporting this campaign, donors are helping to secure a thriving, inclusive future for disability sport in Cornwall.
