Following the League’s final day washout and a wet first week of September, thankfully, two dry days enabled all six County Finals to go ahead in warm sunshine, albeit with a strong south-easterly wind.
In the Division Two Final at Lanhydrock, St Blazey capped a memorable week by beating Stithians in a tied game, by virtue of losing fewer wickets. Their League title was only confirmed on the final day when they won only one of two games played in the county, at Bude, and Luckett lost the other at St Minver. Against Stithians, they made 200-8 with the overseas Ruhann Brenner capping a fine season by hitting 53 before being seventh out. Matt Bennetts (27), Josh Carne (28) and Ben Griffiths (23) had made good contributions. Ryan Mitchell returned to pick up 3-43. Opener Simon Danby anchored the Stithians innings, making 86 with Ryan Burley (26), Callum Martin (25), and skipper Nathan Strick (22) getting the total to 162 before the fifth wicket fell. In a dramatic finish, the last pair of Andrew Lean and Archie Rowe added eleven to level the scores off the penultimate ball before Rowe scooped a catch to Ben Griffiths off the final ball of the match, bowled by Angus Harley. Rory Dixon and Brenner shared six wickets. Stithians win the Division 2 T20 Cup

There was a well-contested Division 3 Final at St Stephen where a late rally by Menheniot Looe got them over the line by two wickets against Ludgvan. Requiring 191, they had been 129-7 before Alex Caddy made a match-winning 50 not out. Luke Ripley had opened with 39. Ashley Mead took three wickets. For Ludgvan John Hosking opened with 23 before Dave Legge (46) and Kyle Stevens (31) added 60 for the third wicket. Giles Francis returned to pick up 3-38 as the innings ended at 190-9. The win for Menheniot Looe was some compensation for their two-run defeat to South Petherwin in the Rosevear Cup Final at the same venue a month earlier.

Rosudgeon & Kenneggy dominated the Division Four Final at Mount Hawke & Porthtowan, winning by seven wickets in a game all over in 43 overs. Jack Edwards took the first four St Blazey Seconds wickets to fall, at a personal cost of 21 runs. Max Jacka then took 5-20 from nine overs, with the last six wickets falling for just 12 runs to be 73 all out. Edwards then made 25 before becoming Steve Gilks’s second wicket with the total at 53

Wadebridge Thirds staged a fine comeback to beat Troon by 125 runs in the Division Five Final at a gusty St Minver. Kian Williams (4-46) and Shane Richards (3-21) made early inroads to reduce Wadebridge to 43-5 before Rob Centini (72) and Joe Skinner (45) steadied the ship, adding 83 for the sixth wicket. Stalwart Stuart Parkyn made 29 to help post a challenging 191-9 in 40 overs. Troon’s innings never got going, with Ashley Paull’s 14 late in the innings the only batter in double figures in their 66 all out. Jack Gill (3-13) and Sam Gerry (3-17) led the attack. In making the presentations, three-time Lord’s Village Cup winning captain Terry Carter congratulated his club, Troon, on a third promotion in four seasons under Adam Rodda following the low of withdrawing from the League in 2021.

Ludgvan’s 2nd XI went one better than their 1st XI, proving too strong for a resurgent Bugle at Constantine, and emerging comfortable winners by 51 runs against the Division 6 East champions who had lost only once this season. Opting to bat first, Ludgvan dominated from the outset, with Sam Edwards (39) and Ryan Irvine (37 ) scoring freely. Dan Cooke then took charge in the second half of their innings, despite a spirited effort in the field by Bugle, to emerge undefeated on 56 in a total of 210 for 8. Nigel Couchman and Martin Hutchings shared four wickets. Bugle’s chances receded with the loss of early wickets, followed by skipper Sam Capstick ripping through the middle order with 5 for 49. Publican Nathan Toms, taking a well-earned break from behind his bar, brought cheer to the Bugle faithful with a fine knock of 49, in partnership with Nigel Couchman, before his team subsided to 161 all out.

A feature of the Division Seven final at St Gluvias was the participation of no fewer than nine Under-16s, and the final included five females. CACO Official Grahame Hocking commented, “It was a pleasure. Lovely to see a number of youngsters getting involved and showing an enthusiasm for cricket”. It was the experience of Scott May who held the St Just Fourth's innings together. He was eighth out for 90 off 123 balls. Logan Popp made 14 in an opening stand of 35. Young Molly Kerry took 6-36 from her ten overs. Requiring 146, Jeremy Bradley was the mainstay of the Perranporth Thirds reply. He hit 58 before being eighth out. Jon Roberts and Connor Tumbridge got the winning runs for a two-wicket success with 15 balls to spare. Jessica May took three for 20 before St Just headed home for their Club Awards night.
