Truro Seal Third Women’s Hardball League Title in Four Years
Truro Cricket Club have been crowned Women’s Hardball League champions for the third time in four years, adding the 2025 title to their previous successes in 2022 and 2024.
This season saw Performance and Development Leagues merged into a single Women’s Hardball League featuring eight teams.
Truro went unbeaten in the league, winning 6 of their games and having one cancelled due to rain. Truro's results remained very dominant through the season, though, their biggest test of the year came against the Perranporth Waves.
Batting first, Truro made 194-4, with Rebecca Rowe (52*) and Lorraine Hammond(38) leading the way with Tegan Buckingham (25*) and Lisa Harper(31) adding late order runs. Erin Milson lead the bowling attack for Waves with with 2-25 off her 6 overs, with Amelie Briley adding 3 extremely economical overs in the middle of the innings so somewhat stall Truro's Innings. In reply, Truro remained under pressure as the Waves went about their work.
Erin Milson opened up with a secure 31 and Trudi Kake keeping the score rotating with 21. Rosie Norton managed to keep the pressure on Truro all the way with a well constructed 45 not out, however, it was Truro that sealed the victory by 48 runs in the end, with one wicket a piece for Ashley Bridges, Lisa Harper and Ruby Flowerdew.
Truro's Rebecca Rowe lead the way with the bat, scoring 224 runs in 5 innings, with 4 50's. This was supported well by Lorraine Fletcher who ended the season with 113 runs, at an average of 37.7, backed up by Izzy Newell with 104, scoring one 50.
The Bowling attack was lead by seamer, Ruby Flowerdew who came on leaps and bounds this Summer, taking 13 wickets at an average of 8 runs per wicket, which included a 5 wicket hall against Werrington. Hannah Dodd was the next highest wicket taker, taking 7 wickets at an average of 1.57. Ashley Bridges and Rebecca Rowe also collecting 6 wickets each.
The fielding efforts were lead by Loraine Fletcher and the evergreen Tamsin Heayn with 3 catches each.
