Cornwall’s First Disability Cricket Team Nominated for BBC Radio Cornwall’s Make a Difference Award

Cornwall Super 9s, the county’s first disability cricket team, is celebrating yet another remarkable achievement after being shortlisted for BBC Radio Cornwall’s prestigious Make a Difference Award.

The nomination comes in the Active category, which recognises individuals and groups who use physical activity to bring people together and make a positive impact in their communities.

Formed just two years ago, Cornwall Super 9s have already made history, being crowned South West League Champions 2025 in only their second season. The team has become a shining example of inclusion, teamwork, and the power of sport to unite people of all abilities.

“This nomination is a huge honour for everyone involved in Cornwall Super 9s,” said Coach, Daniel Tonkin. “We’re incredibly proud of what the team has achieved on and off the pitch, and we’re excited to keep showing what disability cricket can bring to Cornwall.”

The winners of the Make a Difference Awards will be announced in September.
