The 77th Andrew Cup Final was a thriller with the 'Ducks' beating the 'Pichards' by two runs.
Perranporth Seconds snatched 'defeat from the jaws of victory'. They looked to have timed their run chase perfectly in pursuit of Barripper's 148-5. After Russell Milsom dominated early on, hitting 2 sixes and 6 fours in his 46 off 32 balls, the fourth wicket partnership of Shaun Stribley (34) and Finley Stribley (24) reduced the target to 27 off four overs, then 16 off the last three. Seamer Ollie Essex then came back to bowl a match-defining 18th over. He had Finley Stribley well caught in the deep by Aaron Futcher and then bowled Lleyton Stribley next ball. Three balls later, he bowled Shaun Stribley - 15 to win off two overs, but only four wickets left. Skipper Archie Condie only conceded four singles off the penultimate over whilst picking up the wicket of Connor Tumbridge. It meant 11 were required off the last over. Craig Dunstan bowled Jamie Smeaden, and with five needed off the last ball, it only went for two to leave Barripper jubilant.
Having been put in, Barripper got off to a flyer with 44 coming off the first five overs. Craig Dunstan was caught off Jamie Smeaden for 27, but Ben Russell continued the momentum, hitting three sixes down the ground in his 27 off 13 balls before being caught off Smeaden at 91 in the eleventh over. Perranporth fought back, getting Condie and Ben Edwards without scoring. The 'Bunny Williams' Player of the Match, Futcher fell for 54 at the beginning of the 19th over. Essex got 12 of the 13 in the final over, which in the end proved crucial.
Barripper's Brian Dunstan won the Andrew Cup for the third time (2008 (MoM) & 2013), plus he was on the losing side in 2010 & 2012.
It was Perranporth's skipper Johnny Smeaden's sixth final, and the first one on the losing side following wins in 2003, 07, 16, 18 & 19.
League President Vic Hassell & Vice-Chair Robert Jobson made the presentations.
