Wadebridge won the WT Edwards Cup for the first time, having lost to Troon in 1967 and Penzance in 2021. After electing to bat under blue skies and warm sunshine St Just suffered the early setbacks of losing Rhys Brownfield and Neil Curnow. Ellis May made 22 at a run a ball before being bowled by Matt Lawrence with the score at 48 in the eighth over. Chami Edirisinghe (30) and Philip Nicholas (34) added 55 for the fourth wicket. With both hitting sixes, at 103-3 in the 13th over, a promising total looked possible.
It all went wrong, however, in dramatic fashion. Edirisinghe was dismissed by Elliot Dunnett and Logan Curnow was bowled next ball. Lawrence made it three wickets in three balls by trapping Nicholas lbw. Dunnett quickly removed Josh Semmens and Gareth May and ended with 4-18 to be named player of the match. Lawrence took 3-19 as the innings ended off the first ball of the 18th over at 107 all out - the last seven wickets falling for just four runs.
James Turpin hit successive boundaries in the first over, but Edirisinghe removed Matt Robins for a single in the second over. That was to be the only success for the Penwith club as Turpin and Lachlan Crump added an unbroken 102 for the second wicket. Crump made 57 not out with a six and 9 fours off 39 balls. Turpin ended on 54no off 41 balls, hitting a maximum to win the match off the first ball of the 15th over. League President Vic Hassell made the presentations.
