Wednesday 25 June 2025
St Austell - Grampound Road 53 (11.2) (T Orpe 16; L Crump 4-9, J Turpin 3-19, C Wilson 2-17 ) lost to Wadebridge 58-0 (7.2) (J Turpin 42no, M Robins 13no) by ten wickets. Player of the Match – James Turpin.

In one of the quickest Hawkey Cup Finals on record, Wadebridge defeated Gramound Road by ten wickets in a match that lasted less than 19 overs. Light rain delayed the start by ten minutes. On electing to bat, Grampound Road lost Dave Hoskings to the sixth ball of the innings, bowled by James Turpin. In the next over Callum Wilson accounted for Ravi Karunarathna. Antony Angove followed bowled by Turpin two balls later and when Jack Mingo fell to Wilson, the Road were in all sorts of trouble at 15-4 off four overs. Alex Lean (13) and skipper Tom Orpe (16) rallied but the last six wickets fell for 17 runs in the space of 26 balls. The end came at 53 off 11.2 overs. Lachlan Crump picked up 4-9, Turpin 3-19 and Wilson 2-17.
The Wadebridge openers knocked off the runs in 7.2 overs with Turpin making 42 not out off 26 balls with 2 sixes and 6 fours. Matt Robins supported with 13 not out.
53 was the second lowest total by a team batting first in a final - Wadebridge were dismissed for 52 by St Columb in 1960.
The only lower aggregate total of 111runs was 105 in 1960
The ten-wicket win has only been equalled by St Austell's win over Callington in 2010.
