Cornwall Cricket Board Celebrates Successful Women’s Indoor Softball Festivals
Cornwall Cricket Board (CCB) is delighted to announce the successful completion of its 16-week Women’s Indoor Softball Festival series, which provided an exciting and competitive winter cricket experience for clubs across the county.
The pre-Christmas sessions were held at the Cricket Centre in Truro, while the post-Christmas events took place at Lux Park in Liskeard, ensuring year-round playing opportunities for women and girls. A total of 16 clubs participated in the winter program, including four clubs either making their debut in the sport or returning after a break.
Across the festival series, 90 games were played, allowing teams to sharpen their skills and maintain match readiness over the winter months. The schedule also featured two moonlit cricket events and two festive Christmas specials, adding a unique and celebratory touch to the program.
The final festival, held on March 23rd, saw a dominant Callington side emerge victorious over Lanhydrock, St Neot, and Liskeard, securing an impressive 12 wins from 15 games.
Each festival match followed an exciting fast-paced format, with four teams competing in a three-hour session. Games lasted 30 minutes, with six-over innings and each batting pair facing two overs. The energetic nature of the competition not only provided entertainment but also helped develop key skills and tactical awareness, which will no doubt be showcased in the upcoming summer season.
CCB extends its congratulations to all teams and individuals who took part, making the Women’s Indoor Softball Festivals a resounding success!
