UV Glow Cricket Shines Bright in Week 4 of the Women’s Indoor Softball League

The Women’s Indoor Softball Cricket League lit up Week 4 with an electrifying twist: UV Glow-in-the-Dark Cricket! Over two action-packed days, seven teams embraced the fun and spectacle of playing under floodlit UV lights. Players adorned themselves with glowing body paint, bright costumes, and flashing accessories, creating a carnival atmosphere enhanced by upbeat music that echoed around the arena.
Wadebridge Triumphs in the UV Festival

Wadebridge celebrated their second tournament win of the Winter, defeating Mullion and Mount Ambrose on their path to victory. Mullion marked their first festival win with a thrilling match against Mount Ambrose, who themselves came tantalizingly close to upsetting Wadebridge. Their encounter went down to the final three balls, with Wadebridge narrowly clinching the victory.

Mount Ambrose coach Anthony Brush expressed his pride, saying:
"This was really encouraging for our ladies. We loved the glow-in-the-dark cricket; it was a great evening."

Wadebridge captain Katie Rix added to the excitement:
"We absolutely love glow cricket! Playing with glowing face paint and flashing tutus made it even more fun. Can we do it more often, please?"

Werrington Dominates, St Austell Steals the Show in Fancy Dress
The week’s second tournament saw Werrington dominate, winning every match with ease. Their stellar batting, tight bowling, and exceptional teamwork highlighted their indoor cricket prowess.
St Austell, who shone in the previous week, couldn’t secure a victory this time but still made their mark. Jess Machin stole the show in fancy dress, dazzling everyone with her light-up Technicolor dreamcoat—a highlight of the evening’s festive flair.

Match of the Week: Redruth vs. Stithians
A dramatic showdown between Redruth and Stithians captured the week’s spotlight. Redruth posted a par score of 236 before Stithians’ under-13 pair showcased maturity in the chase, taking the game to the final over with just three runs needed to win.
Redruth’s Chloe delivered a game-changing direct hit run-out, followed by captain Kayleigh Lean’s ice-cool bowling in the last over. Kayleigh’s unplayable yorker and precise deliveries sealed a nail-biting victory for Redruth, with Stithians falling 12 runs short of their target.

Looking Ahead to Festive Cricket
The league now heads into the final two rounds of the festival, promising a festive twist with mince pies, Christmas music, and on-the-spot prizes for players. The Christmas specials will wrap up a thrilling season of indoor softball cricket before the holiday break.
