Chance to Shine Awards Evening – A Night to Remember

The Chance to Shine Awards evening at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground was a truly inspiring celebration of the power of cricket to transform lives. Representatives from Cornwall Cricket Board attended this prestigious event to celebrate the incredible work being done across the country to bring cricket to young people. Among those representing Cornwall were Chris Anderson (Schools Development Officer), Nick Matthews (Women and Girls Development Officer), Sarah Fox (County Safeguarding Officer), and Tom Fox-Dean (Chance to Shine Youth Committee Vice-Chair and Cornwall County Pathway player).

The evening highlighted the profound difference that Chance to Shine makes in the lives of young people, empowering them with confidence, teamwork, and resilience. The programmes inspire children, often introducing them to cricket for the first time, while fostering personal growth and building lasting memories. Chris Anderson shared how much of an honour it is to lead the Chance to Shine schools delivery in Cornwall, describing the privilege of delivering these transformative programmes in schools across the county.

Cornwall Cricket Board extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the evening’s winners, whose achievements glow as a testament to the impact of cricket on young lives. The board also expressed gratitude to Chance to Shine for hosting such a remarkable event and for the opportunity to represent Cornwall at the home of cricket.

The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of grassroots cricket and the collective effort across Cornwall to inspire young people through Chance to Shine. Cornwall Cricket Board remains committed to growing the game and ensuring that even more children across the county can benefit from the opportunities and life skills that cricket provides.
