Just as it began in April the Bond Timber Cornwall Premier season ended on a soggy note on Saturday. The season's first four weeks were cancelled with waterlogged grounds preventing the Premier T20 Cup from being played. The final day of the Premier Division was similarly affected with all five games abandoned in mid-afternoon as persistent rain set in from the south and east. The only consolation was that there were no issues at stake with Penzance winning the title and Camborne confirmed as in bottom place the previous week. Overall of the 90 Premier Division fixtures 19 have either been abandoned or cancelled in a summer that will not be fondly remembered.
The champions Penzance bowled out Redruth for 185 with Grant Stone taking four wickets. Conditions prevented them from starting their innings. Werrington made 262-8 against runners-up Callington when play ended after 47 overs. Vithanage Dilshan continued his good form with 126. Dan Standing took 5-41 for St Austell to bowl Helston out for 147 and the Saints looked on course for victory at 70-1 when play was abandoned at Wheal Eliza. Harry Phillips scored 72 in Truro’s 250-4 at home to St Just. Camborne bowled Wadebridge out for 124 at Roskear with Dan Stephens taking four wickets.

In County Division One Beacon clinched the title after a dramatic final day. Their one previous success was 31 years ago in 1993 in the fourth year of the competition. They went into the final day knowing Grampound Road had to better their points tally with the clubs tied but Beacon won the head-to-head by just a point. With the weather forecast in mind, Falmouth and Roche agreed to earlier starts. It proved dividends for Beacon who bowled Falmouth out for 61 and swept to a ten-wicket victory to claim the title with maximum points. It was just in time as rain set in within the hour.
Meanwhile, Grampound Road were also able to force a home victory over Roche who batted the fifty overs to make 152-7 with opener Darren Robotham unbeaten on 41. The Road eased home by seven wickets with Tom Orpe making 48 not out. There was one positive result elsewhere with Newquay beating St Erme by 51 runs on Duckworth Lewis Stern when play was called off at the Sports Centre with Newquay ten short of the 156 target. The games at Hayle, Penzance and Wadebridge were abandoned. Mullion skipper Jonty Wheatley made 175 not out at Penzance Seconds who failed to win a game.
