The fight for the Bond Timber Premier title and to avoid relegation was encapsulated in two top versus-bottom games on Saturday that both went to the wire. The leaders Penzance looked to be cruising to victory at Camborne in pursuit of the home team’s 185-8. Josh Fontana made 47 and Alfie MacDonald 45 with Dylan Blignaunt taking 4-39. Christian Purchase made 39, Jack Paull 27 and with Ben Seabrook (58) and Dan Lello (21) going well a routine victory looked on the cards at 171-4 with 15 needed off five overs. However, in an incredible finish, Steve Richards took three wickets and two were still required off the final two balls. Tom Dinnis hit Dan Hocking to Alfie MacDonald at square leg and off the final ball Andrew Libby was run out by Jacob MacDonald’s throw, coming back for a second run, to tie the match. Six wickets had fallen for 14 runs.
It was just as tense at Callington in a low-scoring game. Helston were dismissed for 114 with Lance Alberts (19) top scoring of the six that made double figures. Ben Ellis had made early inroads with 4-30 including county colleagues Billy Taylor and Karl Leathley. Callington then lost their first six wickets for 68 but were kept in the game by Liam Lindsay’s 45 and Mohammed Danyaal’s 13 before the ninth wicket pair of Ellis and Joe White survived 65 balls between them to get the eleven required. A tense two-wicket victory came with eight overs remaining.
Elsewhere St Just boosted their survival hopes with a four-wicket victory at Redruth having been set 147. Truro made short work of St Austell winning by eight wickets after Amiir Yamin took 7-27. An unbeaten fifty from Kelvin Snell steered Wadebridge to a rare win at Werrington.

In County Division 1 both Grampound Road and Beacon won their double header weekend games to leave the Road 13 points clear with four games to play.
Newquay and Falmouth both enjoyed wins to move away from the relegation zone.
Roche (182) occupies the fourth from bottom spot but are only six points behind Mullion (188) who has played a game more.
Penzance (71), Camborne Seconds (155) and Wadebridge Seconds (173) occupy the bottom three spot
