St Stephen's Disability Cricket Club hosts Super 1’s festival
Champion disability club St Stephen hosted a Cricket festival on Sunday with all Disability Champion clubs represented on the day.
After an initial delay as a result of weather, the efforts of volunteers from St Stephen were rewarded and the game began safely at 12.30.
The final saw St Stephen play Troon with the help of some penzance players, everybody was able to bat and bowl with Troon posting a score of 84, after a slow start it came down to the last over, 11 needed off the last over. After a tense start to the over with a couple of wides St Stephen needed 2 off the last ball to win but after some calm fielding they could only manage a single therefore drawing the game.
All players were presented with medals to remember a great festival as well as Troon/Penzance side and St Stephen receiving trophies.
Cornwall Cricket Board would like to say a huge thank you to the groundsmen of St Stephen and Jan Raven who produced a fabulous cricket tea for every player and parents.
They’d also like to thank Pat Jolly who, with help from other parents, organised a raffle with some fantastic prizes on the day raising £161 which will go towards Cornwall Cricket Boards Crowdfunder Campaign. The campaign is raising funds to support the first ever county disability team who’s first match takes place on the 13th August away to Somerset.
