Table Cricket Finals Showcase Outstanding Competition at Cornwall Cricket Centre
The Cornwall Cricket Centre hosted the annual Lord’s Taverners Table Cricket Finals today, bringing together five of the county’s top teams for a day of high-quality and closely contested cricket.
The finalists qualified through East and West semi-finals and included first-time entrants Truro College, alongside Brunel, Hayle, Brannel and Helston.
From the opening rounds, the standard of play was exceptionally high, with tight matches and strong performances across all teams. The competition culminated in a thrilling grand final between Helston and Brannel.
With Cornwall Cricket Chairman Derek Law and CEO Joe Skinner in attendance, Helston won the toss and elected to bowl. Brannel produced a composed innings, overcoming the loss of regular wickets to post a competitive total of 245–4.
In reply, Helston made a fast start, scoring 20 runs in the opening over. Despite disciplined bowling from Brannel during the middle overs, Helston maintained momentum and finished on an impressive 274, securing victory and lifting the title.
As a result, Helston now progress to represent Cornwall at the regional competition in Exeter.
Disability Development Officer Ellie Mitchell praised the day’s efforts, saying:
“Well done and thank you to all participants. The standard has been great and continues to improve year on year, which is a credit to the schools and coaches supporting the programme throughout the year. Congratulations to Helston on becoming two-time winners, and good luck in the next round.”
The event once again highlighted the growing strength of Table Cricket across Cornwall and the commitment of schools, coaches and organisers in supporting inclusive cricket opportunities.
