St Minver win the Rosevear Cup

Clive Rosevear Cup Finals Day at Lanhydrock CC

 

St Minver won the Clive Rosevear Cup for the first time when they convincingly defeated hosts Lanhydrock seconds by ten wickets in hot conditions. Lanhydrock were bowled out for 83 in 18 overs with Luke Osborne, Dean Jeffery, Will Durrant and Rob Hawken all picking up two wickets. They lost Mark Trudgeon, lbw to Jeffery, to the first ball of the innings and there were two run outs as the first five wickets fell for 32. Alfie Dawes top scored with 14 in the 83. Osborne then hit eight boundaries in his 43 not out and was named player of the match. Hawken supported with an unbeaten 30 which included a six and 4 fours as victory came with ten overs to spare.

Lanhydrock had won a thrilling morning semi-final chasing down Boconnoc’s 158-6 with a ball and five wickets to spare. John Niblett continued his good season with 66 not out for Boconnoc with Jasper Heaver and Luke Buckland taking two wickets. After Mark Trudgeon made 36 Heaver got 51 before Josh Taylor saw his side home with 27 not out. Digby Taylor and Joe Coates shared four wickets.

St Minver were restricted to 112-6 in the second semi-final by St Austell thirds. Antony Ash made 24 but they were indebted to Will Durrant (27no) after being 79-6. St Austell lost the key wicket of Martin Bevins at 31. He has hit seven scores of 80 plus including three centuries this season. After Ryan Bate made 39 the innings fell away to end on 99-9 with the last six wickets falling for 28 runs. Osborne took 4-19 and Hawken 3-8.


Semi-finals :

Boconnoc 158-6 (J Niblett 66no, C Hampton-Stone 31, R Foot 26; L Buckland 2-25, J Heaver 2-28) lost to  Lanhydrock II 161-5 (J Heaver 51, M Trudgeon 36, Josh Taylor 27; D Taylor 2-25, Jo Coates 2-28) by five wickets.   Scorecard

St Minver 112-6 (W Durrant 27no, A Ash 24; Qasim Jamal 2-23, R LeMasurier 2-23) beat St Austell III 99-9 (R Bate 39; L Osborne 4-19, R Hawken 3-8) by 13 runs.   Scorecard

Final: Lanhydrock II 83 (A Dawes 14; L Osborne 2-11, D Jeffery 2-12, W Durrant 2-13, R Hawken 2-16) lost to St Minver 84-0 (L Osborne 43no, B Hawken 30no) by ten wickets.    Scorecard
