It was a remarkable day of high scores across all divisions on the Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League. In the Premier League all five away teams won with three chasing down targets in excess of 245 runs. In County Division One there were eleven scores of 200 or more and two of more than 300 runs. Penzance increased their lead to 15 points after they won at Camborne and Wadebridge lost at home to St Just. Camborne were dismissed for 107 with Tom Dinnis taking 5-20. Penzance won by six wickets. There was a thrilling game at Wadebridge where Kevin Renecke top-scored with 84 in the home team’s 252-6. In a perfectly timed chase St Just got home by five wickets with Neil Curnow making 91 and Philip Nicholas 72. It was similar at Truro where the home teams batters did well to make 245-7 at home to Hayle. Dan Davis (77) and Joe Phillips (64) laid the base before Alex Moore hit a quickfire 54 not out. Sam Mycock (72) and Dan Lello (63) did well for the visitors but it came down to the last pair with Matt Jacka hitting two boundaries to win with 15 balls to spare. The runs also flowed at Werrington where Mark Gribble made 95 not out and Ben Jenkin 81 in the 258-4. It was not enough though as Worcestershire’s Jake Libby, playing his first Callington game for eight years, made 107 and shared a partnership of 145 for the third wicket with Ollie Allsop, who made 78 before being run out. Callington won by three wickets with nine balls to spare. There was a close game at Redruth where Alex Bone made 69 for St Austell in their 175. Lloyd Brock hit 55 for Redruth who ended up 12 runs short of victory.
Helston have taken over from Beacon at the top of County Division One after a double-winning weekend at Beacon Parc. Ross Leathley made 117 not out and Luke Maugeri 87 in the 82-run victory over St Erme. In the rescheduled game with Mullion on Sunday Leathley got 65 and Mark Jenkin 66 in the 62-run success. Lachlan Mark did well for Mullion taking four wickets and top-scoring with 59. Beacon suffered back-to-back defeats as Paul won at Tolcarne Road by two wickets. Kieran Bowden took three wickets and made 67. It’s rare that two batsmen both make 123 in the same innings but it happened at Grampound Road with David Hoskings and Alex Lean both obliging. The Road reached the heights of 386-5 and Werrington seconds replied with a creditable 262 with Hugh Tomkinson making 78. A remarkable game at Newquay saw Lanhydrock make 329-6 with James Maycock hitting 132. Newquay made a fist of it getting to 298-9 when the overs ran out. Grant Stone got 61. John Richardson scored 101 for Falmouth as they won by 54 runs at Mullion. Callington seconds got a welcome win when they beat Redruth seconds by six wickets at Moores Park.
For the first time in the history of the Vinter Cup, a finalist was disqualified for playing a player who had previously played for another club in the competition in the same season. Penzance comfortably won the game by seven wickets but having received information the League’s Competition unanimously agreed to take action in line with ECB Competition rules. St Just's openers Max Waller (29) and Gareth May (28) put on 55 in nine overs before May was run out. Waller and Neil Curnow departed within six balls at 82-3 in the 14th over. The 'Bill Bosanko' Player of the Match Jonny Ludlam took 3-19 from his four overs. Christian Purchase went on to dominate making 42 before being dismissed at 57 at the beginning of the tenth over. Greg Smith and Jack Paull reached the target with an unbroken stand of 41 with a ball short of five overs remaining
