St Just awarded the Bradleys Vinter Cup 2022

CCL Statement

The League Competitions Committee received information that, in the Bradleys Vinter Cup Final on 6 July 2022, “Penzance CC failed to adhere to rule 17.1.2 by playing an ineligible player who was 'cup tied' having played for another club in the competition in 2022.


The Committee first confirmed that Rule 17.1.2 had indeed been breached.


The unanimously agreed sanction, passed by 8 votes to nil, was to disqualify Penzance CC from the
competition and award the match to St Just CC, who will now go forward to the W T Edwards Cup Final on 13 July at Truro Cricket Club.

Penzance 110-3 (15.1) (C Purchase 43, J Ludlam 18, J Paull 16no).

St Just's openers Max Waller (29) and Gareth May (28) put on 55 in nine overs before May was run out. Waller and Neil Curnow departed within six balls at 82-3 in the 14th over. The 'Bill Bosanko' Player of the Match Jonny Ludlam took 3-19 from his four overs.

 

23 runs came off the last five overs for the loss of five wickets which included a wicket maiden from Giles Lawrence. 

 

Ben Stevens removed Antony Angove in the second over. Ludlam made 18 before being stumped.  Christian Purchase went on to dominate making 42 before being dismissed at 57 at the beginning of the tenth over. Greg Smith and Jack Paull reached the target with an unbroken stand of 41 with a ball short of five overs remaining,
