Leaders Penzance remain unbeaten in the Bond Timber Cornwall Premier League but they were given a scare at home to Redruth before coming out on top by just seven runs in a Duckworth Lewis reduced target match.  Penzance made the big score of 255-7 with Christian Purchase (94) and Greg Smith (36) putting on 105 for the first wicket. Rain reduced the Redruth target to 226 from 44 overs. Jack Hale made 79 as they ended on 218-9. Truro are 39 points behind after an eight-wicket win at Werrington. Kyle Van Rooyen took 4-10 to bowl the hosts out for 101. Rahul Dalal was unbeaten on 69 in the reply. St Just are up to third thanks to a seven-wicket win at Grampound Road, who are now 58 points adrift at the foot of the table. Alex Ridd top-scored with 42 as the ‘Road’ were bowled out for 142. St Just skipper Gareth May led the way with 55 to record a sixth win for the West Penwith club. Callington lost ground with a 108 run defeat at Camborne with Jordan Harvey making 41 for the home side as they reached a creditable 206-9. It was more than enough as young spinner Alfie MacDonald took 4-19 to bowl Callington out for just 98. Wadebridge made 152 at home to St Austell but that was a recovery from 57-8 thanks to Kelvin Snell with 41 and tailender Charlie Ellis with 56. Liam Watson and Gary Bone shared six early wickets. Alex Bone hit an unbeaten 84 to see St Austell home by six wickets.

In County Division One Marc Sweeney made 66 to help leaders Hayle to a 14 run win over Paul. Second-placed Helston easily defeated Lanhydrock by nine wickets. Young  Karl Leathley hit 54 not out. He passed 700 League runs in doing so and this was his seventh half-century, two of which he went on to reach three figures. Beacon are third after overwhelming Gorran by 187 runs at Tolcarne Road. Ben James (137) made it back to back centuries in the 295-7. Scott Kellow hit 79 as Falmouth won by 37 runs at St Austell seconds for whom James Higman took 5-40. Josh Pengilly took 5-39 for Redruth seconds at Werrington to help his side to a five-wicket win after being set 109. Newquay were eight-wicket winners at home to St Erme with Grant Stone making 104 not out. Spencer Willcock made 66 in St Erme’s 155 with Matt Hartnett taking four wickets.
