It was one of those most frustrating of days on Saturday with teams travelling across the county, at the end of half-term a particularly busy day on the roads, only for the weather to quickly prevent play. Of the 68 games, only 10 were completed, mostly in the north and east of the county. There was only one in the west, at Mawnan, and two towards the south coast at Grampound Road and Boconnoc. A total of 34 games were abandoned, the majority after just a few overs. Another 22 games were cancelled without a ball bowled.

There was some play at two Premier games before they were abandoned. Wadebridge made 206-7 before declaring in the 43^rd over at home to Werrington. County players Matt Robins (70) and James Turpin (97) put on 147 for the third wicket. Dan Barnard took 3-29. The weather set in before Werrington were able to start their innings. There was a 90-minute delay at Callington before the home side elected to bat in a 36 over game against leaders St Just. They were 107-5 off 22 overs when the game was abandoned. Aidan Libby made 41 at a run a ball. Camborne v St Austell, Grampound Road v Redruth and Penzance v Truro were all unable to start.

Truro’s home game with Callington starts at noon on Saturday due to the county travelling that evening to Herefordshire.

The story wasn’t much better in County Division 1 where the Beacon v St Erme, Hayle v Falmouth and Redruth II v Lanhydrock games were cancelled.  Paul were 78-2 off 18 overs at Helston and Gorran 62-2 in the seventh over at St Austell when play was abandoned. One game was able to complete at Werrington, though the rain was never far away. Grant Stone and Michael Harding made fifties in Newquay’s 248 with three wickets each for Darren Johns, Mark Taskis and Nick Ward. Werrington seconds were dismissed for 165 with Taylor Gerry batting well for 62. Matt Hartnett took 4-22 and Michael Harding 3-30.

Elsewhere there was an outstanding bowling performance at Bude where Martin Hutchings took 8-22 for Bugle after hitting 35 with the bat. Oli Sleeman hit 143 not out for Pencarrow against Tintagel seconds.

On Sunday the Cornwall Choughs (Development XI) suffered the same fate as the Senior County team did seven days earlier. Playing against the Devon Academy at St Austell in a 50 over game they also lost by one wicket off the final ball of the match.

Callington completed a fine week to beat Devon Premier League side Paignton by just one run in the Royal London Club Championship. They now host Bridgwater at the end of the month.

Roche’s hopes of a run in the Volneus Village Cup were dashed with defeat at Yelverton Bohemians.

The Bradley’s Vinter Cup quarter-finals have been completed. Falmouth surprised Truro as did Redruth seconds against Penzance before the holders chased down 174 to win by six wickets with an over to spare. Helston defeated St Just seconds and on Monday evening St Just beat Camborne by eight wickets at Cape Road.
