Contract Extension for Lewis

Somerset all-rounder, Lewis Goldsworthy has put pen to paper on a new contract.
The 23-year-old has committed his future to the Club until at least the end of the 2026 season.
Lewis joined the Somerset Academy in 2016 after working his way through the Cornwall Pathway and made his Somerset Second XI debut the following year.
The former England Under 19 international made his First XI debut in the Vitality Blast clash with Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens in 2020 where he made an immediate impact, scoring 38 not out from just 29 balls and claiming two for 24.
His First Class and List ‘A’ debuts came the following year when he was also named Somerset Young Player of the Season.
Since making his debut, Lewis has featured in 81 matches for Somerset across the three formats, scoring more than 2700 runs and claiming 50 wickets.
After signing his contract extension, Lewis said: “I’m delighted to be committing to Somerset. I love playing in front of this crowd and the Club is heading in a really good direction.
“We’ve got real strength in depth; we’re challenging on all fronts, and I think the Club will only get better.
“The Club gets support from across the whole of the West Country which is great. I’m from Cornwall, and to play for the Club that I supported when I was growing up is really special. To be able to do that for at least another two years is something that I’m very proud of.
“The personal goal in that time is to nail down a spot in the First Teams, and for the Club it’s to win as many trophies as we can because we have the quality to compete in all formats.”
Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “Lewis is a very good all-round cricketer, and we are delighted that his development will continue with us for at least the next two years.
“He is a player with great tenacity and determination, who has the ability to positively influence games with the bat, the ball and in the field. We are excited to see where his cricketing journey takes him in the next two years and beyond. We are also looking forward to witnessing the contributions that he can continue to make in helping us achieve our aspirations to win even more silverware.”
