Steve Jenkin joins Cornwall Cricket Staff

Cornwall Cricket Board have the delight in announcing that Steve Jenkin has joined the Cornwall Cricket professional staff team as Pathway Assistant.

Steve, a local cricket player from Helston CC and a player who has gone through the pathway from a young player, has an excellent understanding of what it takes to be within the system but most importantly has a knowledge of what it takes to develop talented young cricketers. Steve will support Chris Hunkin, our Pathway Manager, in the pathway team supporting the County youth and development squads and future developments such as MCC hubs and 1:1 coaching opportunities.

Steve will assist in the administration, communication and delivery of the programme and supporting the coaching network.

Steve will create certainty in the programme, giving CCB a consistency with its workforce that will create confidence for our teams, players and parents that will undoubtedly benefit all people involved. The employment of Steve will also allow Chris Hunkin to strategically manage the pathway and support the coaching workforce to make sure that quality and consistency is delivered. It is an exciting development for Cornwall Cricket and one was needed to support player development, and we are pleased that we are now in a position to deliver this piece of work.” Joe Skinner, Managing Director

Steve stated, "After coming through the Cornwall youth system myself and then having coached on the pathway for the past 7 years, it is a dream come true to have the opportunity to work with the Cornwall Cricket Pathway full time.

Along with the team I hope to help us keep driving in a positive direction, allowing more young players to develop and fulfil their potential.

Previously I had only worked with a small percentage of the pathway, although I've loved doing that, i'm extremely excited to have the opportunity to work across the board and work with more players and coaches.
