Cornwall won both NCCA T20 games against Wiltshire at Werrington to remain unbeaten and clear at the top of the table. They only need one win from the remaining four group games to ensure qualification for the Super 12’s. They face Dorset at Wimborne on 29 June and Herefordshire at St Austell on 6 July.
Wiltshire made 136-7 in the first game at Ladycross with opener Tom Cheater hitting 62. Ben Ellis took 2-11 from four overs. In the reply, Alex Bone made 33 and Will MacVicar 28 before Paul Smith hit 4 sixes in his 41 off 25 balls. The win by five wickets came with eight balls to spare.
In the second game, Cheater made 58 as the visitors posted 171-9. Max Tryfonos took 5-30. Cornwall raced to a County competition best of 175-2 in just 15 overs. Alex Blake hit 5 sixes in his 59 off 21 balls. Xavie Clarke (73no) and MacVicar (34no) added an unbroken 67 for the third wicket. St Austell’s Ben Sleeman made his full county debut at the age of 16 and took the wicket of Cheater.
