Oxfordshire v Cornwall   Scorecard

Cornwall has it all to do to qualify for the NCCA Trophy quarter-finals following back-to-back defeats in their opening two games. Just as against Berkshire the previous week the early batting failed against Oxfordshire at Banbury on Sunday leaving too much for the tail, despite another spirited rally.

Jamie Harrison’s 90 and a maiden half-century from Tristan Rossouw took Oxfordshire to 249 for nine having been 151-5. Alex Blake took 3-46 with two each for Will MacVicar, Max Tryfonos and Ellis Whiteford.

Cornwall were anchored by opener Karl Leathley’s 62 but 87 were still needed when he was seventh out at 142. Jake Rowe (30) and Alex Bone added 47 for the eighth wicket before both fell in quick succession to seamer Prav Chahal (3-29).

The last pair of Ben Ellis (17) and Whiteford put on 28 before Ellis was caught in the deep with 21 required off three overs.

Big wins against Buckinghamshire at Redruth on Sunday & Devon in the final group game will be needed to potentially claim the runners-up spot but also depending on other results,

Cornwall will need to overtake Devon who currently top the table with two wins and a much superior net run rate.
